random thoughts
are the only thoughts that one can have after working at least 10 hours a day for 3 days in a row. (I'm not whining, I know there are many people who work much more demanding hours and jobs than mine.)
but I have noticed, that my sense of diligence has increased with the crunch time worked for this release. I feel like I'm on the ball here at this point, and ready to catch any bugs coming my way (yet still I miss them :) Where I normally goof off and surf away, I've been taking what little free time I've had today (and yesterday) and taking care of other work tasks I've let lie. Its a weird feeling to *not* want to search for ways to procrastinate. I'm only posting right now because I'm waiting for a build.
on a different note, I have found out, regarding a new friend I've met at work that our paths have crossed multiple times, and yet we have never met before. We had already figured out 3 ways we could have met before. And today while working on the build, I found out that she is good friends with my wife's cousin and his wife. We both attended their wedding! Small small world.
Especially for me, I guess. Lately, I'm realizing that I haven't ever left my sheltered Bay Area world. I grew up in Fremont, went to school in Berkeley, then lived in Berkeley, Fremont, San Francisco, and back home again to Fremont. Its not like I get homesick, when I'm away, or that I was rooted to the Bay Area (I am getting ready to be, but that's another post). Its just weird. I have a friend who is moving to Boston, and it drove home this point yet again, that I've never really left. Its just the way my life has gone. I don't regret it (cliched, I know), but my mind loves to play the "What If" game sometimes. . .
I'll let this stream of consciousness lapse at this point. Must finish testing so I can escape to the real world at some point. And on Good Friday too!
